Renewable Energy

  • 7th Board Meeting of Lanka Biogas Association
  • Installation of new electronic load controller to pico hydro at Batuwangala MV in Galle district, Southern province
  • Based on the Base line survey report prepared for the ENERGIA project draft Gender Action Plan (GAP) was prepared

Housing

  • Presentation on cost effective housing technology to early recovery housing group
  • Training manuals for mason training carpenter training, participatory design methodology, Quality assurance, Disaster resistant housing, cost effective housing technology gathered from previous rebuilding knowledge gained through our rebuilding experiences with implementers and other stakeholders are being revised.
  • Inputs to the Study on ‘Climate Change, Conflict and Housing’ initiated by the Institute of Development Studies - Sussex (IDS – Sussex), by providing a list of interviews and write ups on Manmunaipattu housing for marginalized communities.
  • Providing inputs to Practical Action UK’s People-Centered Reconstruction toolkit and policy paper

Community Governance in infrastructure services

  • Second stage planning on infrastructure development plans in Orissa, India and Sri Lanka.
  • Conducting meetings to validate the plans developed earlier with non state actors in Navithanvely and Thirickovil in the eastern province.
  • Meeting with stakeholders involved in irrigation sector development in Hambanthota district.

Livelihoods

  • Initiate livelihood development activities in Batticalo district in the eastern province

Fisheries

  • Fiber glass boat building training conducted with North East Coast Conservation project in Batticaloa district in the eastern province.

Agriculture

  • Organic paddy farming workshops at district level – Batticaloa District

Disaster risk reduction

  • DRR through River Basin Management collects necessary data and information on Kirindi Oya basin and to develop a specific proposal for implementation of river basin management actions
  • Meeting to finalise the Decentralised Disaster Risk Management manual finalization activity with DMC, UDA
  • Participating at the ‘Resilient Cities Campaign South Asia’ hosted by UNISDR in New Delhi

Climate change

  • Participating at the 1st World Congress on ‘Safer Cities and Adaptation to Climate Change’, in Bonn, Germany

Communications

  • Preparatory work for media awards ceremony for group of journalists who participated in the programme on investigatory journalism for development
  • Planning for media training workshop for provincial correspondents

Janathakshan

  • Meetings with Ministry of Science & Technology and Gem and Jewelry Authority to link up for technical enquiries.
  • Developing  promotional material on Janthakshan.net
